One
of the children of the late Fuji legend, Late Sikiru Ayinde Barrister,
Adewale Akanji Balogun popularly known as Barryshowkey has attributed
the efforts of another popular Fuji act, King Wasiu Ayinde popularly
known as K1 to explain the genesis of Fuji music as a gross mistake.
Barryshowkey,
who is equally a notable Fuji musician said 'There is no doubt about
it, everybody knows that my late father, Dr. Sikiru Ayinde Balogun
created Fuji, infact, Barrister was Fuji during his life and time. It
was a big mistake for K1 to say Barrister was not the creator of Fuji.
As a human, we are all bound to make mistake that was what happened to
K1 in his attempt to analyse how Fuji music was created.
Barryshowkey,
who is currently plying his trade in US said efforts are making to
immortalise Barrister in a similar to that of late Fela Anikulapo Kuti.
You
would recall that in one of his albums, K1 who was recently crowned as
Mayegun of Yoruba land by Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi Atanda
claimed that Fuji was emanated from Isale Eko. The Ijebu-Ode born Fuji
act mentioned the names likes Jibowu Barrister, Saka Laigbade, Akande
Monsuru as those who have played the music before it was rebranded by
Sikiru Ayinde Barrister.
