WHY I CREATED SUPPLE MUSIC- TUNSHE SPK

Tolulope Babalola A.k.a Tunshe SPK is the creator of the latest genre of music in town called Supple Music. Supple Music is a blend of musical rhythm created to bring both the old and young (together) into a STUPENDOUS merry mood. In this exclusive interview with Jobi Idowu, he beam a search light into the meaning of Supple music and some latest development about himself. Enjoy the reading.
What is the latest about Tunshe?
Well as you can see and feel the vibes, Supple Music is everywhere. We just dropped a single track titled Plenty Money and the vibe is really trending so we are working tirelessly on the completion of the album because the album will have 6 solid tracks and 5 tracks have been recorded so far and we also working on few videos from the album too, so right now it has been video shoot locations and studio
You always said you do Supple Music and not Juju music. Can you shed more light into what Supple Music really is?
I do Supple Music and Supple music is different from juju music. Supple Music is a blend of musical rhythm created to bring both the old and young (together) into a Stupendous merry mood. The continuous fascinating groove is purely an interplay btw western and African music with its unique focus on core African percussions, strings and brass instruments. Juju music is more of percussions and strings with probably little or no infusion of horns/brass even the little infusion of the horns is from the new generation juju musicians. Supple music is far different from Juju music. Supple Music major on the three aforementioned instruments for accompaniments, arrangement, transition and groove, so also our delivery/rendition is different from that of Juju music.
You are one of the top musician in the music industry, and you still wax stronger. What is the secret of your success?
My brother it’s not easy, let me say God is the secret because it’s not a child’s play to be the one creating everything in your song from song composition to percussion, strings and brass arrangement, be your own producer, sound engineer, video director and editor and to crown it up, you will have to be on stage entertaining the lovers of your music at events and concerts, meeeen…., it’s been God.
Do you really think Supple music has come to stay just like other genres of music?
of course, you can say that again. The original Afro music was created by Fela Anikulapo and it didn’t die, SSP created Afro juju and it didn’t die to mention a few so Supple Music has come to stay. Even with the level of the acceptance right now, it’s clearly obvious that its more than just come to stay. I’m grateful to God.
Can other musicians do this supple music alongside  with you?
Yes. Just that they will work o. Supple Music is not for lazy musicians. They must be able to play more than one musical instrument and must be horns/brass, percussions especially talking drums, drum set and strings instrument oriented. They must have deep knowledge of music, proverbs and have the ability to write meaningful synopsis too.
What are the steps you’ve taken to make people reckon with Supple music?
Having made lots of empirical research on music before finally settling for the name Supple Music, we have done series of awareness on medias and we are still doing it, making sure no stone is left unturned, we made good music production, meaningful synopsis/lyrics and well orchestrated song our priority and we also broke Supple Music down to three categories namely: Gospel Supple, Juju Supple and Hardcore Supple so that it will cut across to everyone. Moreover we made sure that we are professional about our genre by performing it life on stage for the enjoyment of our fans and Supple Music lovers.
How many album do you have to your record now?
Over 14 has been released to the market so far in the course of the research but we finally got Supple Music right in our new album.
Having released over 14 Albums, how have you been able to cope with the piracy?
We normally beat piracy to it though we had the encounter on our “Rolling the praise” Album bcos it was grossly pirated but we are still trying everything we can to keep beating them to it.
What have you come to contribute to the music industry with this Supple music?
I’m here to correct the impressions that it’s a particular genre of music that can trend, any genre of music can trend if done properly and professionally. I’m also here to correct some anomalies in music. Enough of junks and meaningless songs, we need to use our songs to educate, eradicate bad nature, motivate, inspire and improve the mood of those who used their hard earn money to by our jobs. Music goes beyond what some people think it is.
Musicians should also have the ability to play at least one tuning musical instrument else they will just remain singers and entertainers and their songs won’t stand a test of time.
I’m equally here to do ever green songs like we have always done.
As one of the big players in the music industry, what do you think you can do to improve the industry?
Advising and encouraging singers to become great musicians, write meaningful and sensible songs, organise seminars and training for willing musicians who clamour for improvements, then produce good and well orchestrated songs so that instrumentalist, musicians, singers and aspiring musicians could learn from my instrumentations and lyrics
How many countries have you taken your music to?
My music is everywhere you have Nigerians most especially Canada, US, Dublin, U.K, Germany, South Africa and Dubai.
If you are not into music what would you have been doing?
I would have being a teacher, counsellor, preacher or a Marketer because I love talking to and advising people.
Can you say music financially profitable to you?
Yes o to God be the glory.
Who are your role models in the music industry?
That’s difficult because I do my thing but all creators I mean those who created their own style of music are my role model because I love originality.
Where do you see Supple Music in the next 3 years?
God willing supple music must have being in everyone home and the name “Supple Music” won’t need be introduced, define or explain anymore. Everyone must have know the meaning, scope and purpose of supple music. Gbasibe
How do you manage to have time for your family with your tight schedules?
I’m a very organised person so it’s easy for me.
What should your fans expect from you next?
More improvements on Supple Music, then my Christian fans should be expecting ROLLING THE PRAISE vol.2
Your last shout out to your fans?
I want to use this platform to say thank you to all my fans home and abroad, thank you for buying our jobs and thank you for giving us shows and engagements, I thank all the men of God that do invite my Gospel band for ministrations and praise programmes in their various churches, thank you for believing in me the Supple King and my formidable band De’ Supple Thrillers Band and my Gospel band ’12 Can Praise Company’, God bless you.
