As the menace perpetrated by militants continue in some part of Lagos,
Sesan Adewusi, one of those that fought the Agbekoya war back then has
called on the federal government and state to come to people’s rescue
and safe them from incessant invasion resulting to loss of lives and
properties.
In a statement signed by Sesan Adewusi, a Poet and a foremost leader of
Agbekoya Renewal Group has said that Agbekoya will take up the fight if
the incessant attack is not stopped within 7 days. He said, “Yoruba people will not hesitate to go to war if kidnapping and killing of innocent people is not stopped within 7 days. The Yorubas are warriors in olden days and the super-natural power bestowed on them is still very intact.”
Sesan Adewusi in his word claimed he was part of the struggle of the
Agbekoyas in 1967 and reiterated that the Agbekoya Renewal group is
still very vibrant with its activities towards fighting and protecting
the Yoruba nation. He stressed further that “Yorubas are not coward;
kidnapping traditional rulers in some Yoruba lands by some nonentity is
an insult to Yoruba race. The Yorubas are great people that worship God
either in Christendom or Islam including our traditional ways of
worships but mind you; our supernatural power still live with us. If
federal government and state refuse to take action within 7 days,
we the Agbekoyas and other Yoruba groups in Yoruba land will take
drastic step against militants invading Yoruba towns especially in Lagos
killing people and making away with their properties.
Adewusi said the only way Nigerians can continue to live as one in peace
is for the government to live up to her responsibility by proffering a
lasting solution to incessant ethnic killings in the land. It will be
recalled that people of Igbo-Olomu, Elepete; Isawo;Oke-oko in Ikorodu
side of Lagos state have been under incessant attacks by Ijaw militants.
Also, people living close to the waterways at Igando, Ijannikin;
Iyana-Iba and some other areas in Lagos were not spared in the incessant
attack.
People residing in Ibafo in Ogun state are part of those recounting
their ordeal as militants always invade their home, rape, kill and cart
away properties.
